This is a rock (pop-punk) cover of the slow folk ballad Gordon Lightfoot song that came out in 1970, the year I was born. The basic inspiration of the original song by Gordon Lighfoot is from the breakup of his first marriage to his wife Brita. He left the marriage to pursue a background singer named Cathy Smith. He always felt guilty for his moral failings with Brita. He was a partyer & an alcoholic. Although he eventually married 3 times, he never wanted to marry Cathy because he thought she was too wild. Incidentally, she eventually served 15 months in the California state prison system for injecting actor John Belushi with a fatal dose of heroin and cocaine in 1982.
